Technology: Dale has logged over 15 years of experience as a technology consultant, helping hundreds of businesses plan and implement Microsoft networks.  His areas of focus are network planning and design,  security, communications systems and productivity enhancing solutions.  Dale began his computer related career while working as a technician and touring with the Beach Boys www.beachboysband.net in the 1990's. Dale was asked to maintain band equipment inventory lists printed on US Customs forms called Manifests, which were required for boarder crossings.  Because of the difficulty involed in keeping track of the constantly changing equipment on the road, he developed a relational database computer program which allowed him to manage the equipment more efficiently. The program printed out inventory reports onto US custom templates, which greatly eased the burden of preparing for border crossings.  In 1996 he began his a career working as a computer network technician while studying for his Microsoft Certified System Engineer certification, which he acquired in early 1998.  He is currently growing his technology consulting business through strategic partnerships.

Music: Dale began his professional musical career directly after high school joining a group of local musicians to form the rock band Wizard. Next came an acoustic project to explore Irish and roots music with the formation of power duo Timbre.  From there along with good freind Jim Elkin he went on to form local twin cities band Loose Change which toured the West and Midwest for 5 years. Vicious Rumor and The Shifters were subsequent projects.  In 1984 he began a four year degree working his way through college as a musician.  He graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance. His first non-musical job after college was working locally for IDS as a financial planner. When he  was transferred to the IDS offices in San Diego California, a friend introduced him to the legendary Beach Boys www.beachboysband.net who offered him employment as a backline technician. He was soon promoted to equipment manger and crew chief. In 1994 he began playing guitar solos in the Beach Boys show on a regular basis as well as occasionally substituting for Carl Wilson on lead guitar. From 1994 through 1997 he toured with Mike Love, lead singer of the Beach Boys on lead guitar and vocals.

Dale’s early influences included Jethro Tull, Led Zeppelin, Elton John, Neil Young, America, Pink Floyd, the Allman Brothers, The Byrds, Ozark Mountain Daredevils, John Hartford, Tom Waits, John Mayall and Jerry Jeff Walker. Later on a friend introduced him to the sounds of David Grisman, the Stanley Brothers, Tony Rice, Vasser Clements, the Dillards and Doc Watson. Thus began a prolonged fascination with the origins of Bluegrass and American roots music. In Dale’s sound you will hear a mixture of all the above elements. Dale brings enthusiasm and creativity to his performances blending rock, folk, blues and bluegrass into unique exciting shows.

Dale now divides his time between his family and his two current bands the Zebra Mussels www.thezebramussels.com and a new bluegrass band Pickin’ Up Steam  www.pickinupsteam.com Dale plays electric guitar, acoustic guitar and mandolin. He is currently taking on a new challenge - the fiddle.
